Theory of the Universe
Religion, science, life, everything.

Theory

Firstly I'd like to start by saying that everything that follows is speculation and I am in no way claiming that it is fact, I however actually believe these ideas to be quite possible and as such I ask that you approach the ideas with an open mind (that includes all of you with strong religious beliefs, if you aren't willing to listen to other opinions you can leave the site RIGHT NOW).

Like everybody else I am puzzled by the mysteries of life and the universe. Where did we come from and why? What does life mean? There are many theories, scientific, religious, a mixture of the two. The plain truth is that NOBODY KNOWS.

The idea or more appropriately said, the theory that occurred to me is everything is essentially part of something much larger. Ok I will begin with some facts. As many people know our bodies are made up of several components. Firstly, we have the bones and organs and if we go down to a smaller scale we have our cells and beyond this there are smaller structures still. All of these parts make up a human being. Agreed? Ok, well my idea is that a human being is no more than a "cell" in a much larger organism. That is to say that the Earth in turn is no more than a component of a much larger "being" and so the universe (or whatever there is beyond) is all part of the same giant organism. And that everything on a tiny scale is made of the same material.

Where did the universe come from? Here is where things get difficult to comprehend. I don't think the universe was created, it simply is. It is constantly changing and quite possibly expanding in a way too but really this is just a change of its form. The universe is and always will be; although it may well change beyond recognition. Such unpredictabilty is inevitable. In particle physics even the top scientists recognise that certain actions of an atom are completely random and unpredictable. To return to the point at hand it is a very difficult concept to imagine something as simply existing, however there is no absolute proof to the contrary. It seems to me that it is in our nature to seek a beginning since eveything else that we know has one. Of course we no longer live on a flat Earth and just as much as the Earth is round, the universe is (from our perception at least) eternal.

The meaning of life.

The meaning of life is not as grand as we would like it to be. It is a result of an accidental reaction or more probably an evolutionary one and is just as likely to be owed to pure luck than to a necessary change. If we are to consider the idea of a single body however it may well be that life is very intentional and forms a crucial part of the body of the universe, like a system with a specific purpose that functions in the subconscious (if it has a conscious) of the universe, like how human breathing or blood circulation works, I mean we don't need to physically think about these systems in order for them to function. Maybe the milky way is the brain of the universe, or maybe it's no more than a bacteria.

People are just organelles floating around in the cytoplasm of the Earth - Imagine life from an atom's perspective.

Feel free to discuss your ideas and please suggest your contributions using the site's guestbook.
